Army Combat Veteran and Founder of P.O.W.

Todd Vance, a former Sergeant Squad Leader in the U.S. Army, created P.O.W. after realizing that tough workouts helped him – and other veterans – adjust to civilian life and combat PTSD. At the time, Vance was studying Social Work at Point Loma Nazarene University and was encouraged to apply research-based program design techniques to develop a high-quality program based on demonstrated need. Vance completed a B.A. in social work in 2012 and has led the organization from a program largely “on paper” to a full-fledged nonprofit organization offering 14 classes per month and a peer-led network of support. P.O.W. became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in July 2013.
